Astra Tweed, a border collie who is everyone's friend as he believes that everyone will be nice to him, he is the biggest softy in the canine world but when it comes to sheep, wow, he becomes a different dog. On sheep, Tweed is very strong in every sense of the word and was impossible to handle on the Trial field until he was almost five years old.. I kept reminding myself of the great handlers of old who did not expect much from a dog on the trials field or work for that matter until the dog had as many years under him as he had feet. Tweed has been used on several bitches to date and his pups have his wonderful temperament and are starting to show promise.
Tweed
is very athletic
30/11/01: After spending four months working for a contract Shepherd on the Hills of Central Scotland, Astra Tweed has returned home. Tweed has learnt a tremendous amount and with luck (no more FMD) will be starting his trial career in the Spring of 2002.This is a dog most dream about and never own, one you can go out and know whatever the job, it will be done with confidence and ease. The shepherd who has had Tweed all summer is constantly asking to have Tweed back.
If you are wanting true power, Tweed is the dog for your bitch, I have never been stuck anywhere with sheep or cattle. Tweeds pups are showing the same determination to get the job done.
If you are really serious about breeding quality border collies with power and good temperaments then forget about looks and go for TWEED!!!!
Tweed carries the RED gene so therefore could produce Red or Chocolate puppies bred to a bitch which carries that same gene.
Semen is now available for "A I".
DELIVERY WORLD WIDE
Email us to book semen for your bitch.
Size and agility
30/04/2002 Tweed has won his first Open Trail which should qualify him to run in the Scottish Nationals 2002. Tweeds pups are continuing to please whilst being trained and I believe they will make good trials and flock dogs. Tweed continues to excell as a lambing dog, never failing to get the job done in the easiest and quickest way but now with style and panache.
10/05/2002 Stop Press: Astra Sweep litter brother to Tweed has won his first Novice trial with Alison Salisbury, Congratulations Alison!
October 2002 Astra Sweep placed 2nd in the opens. Competed in One Man and His Dog 2003.
05/08/2002 : ASTRA TWEED has qualified to compete in the Inaugural World Trials to be held in Bala, North Wales 19th to 22nd September.
25th September 2004: ASTRA TWEED has had a very good trials season after an eighteen month break, he has been consistantly placed, including a win and several seconds.

ASTRA CHIEF
Tweeds little chieftan out of Spice
Chief is the splitting image of Tweed. With luck he will turn out to be as distinct for the Border Collie breed as his great great great great grand father J R Thomas' DON.
He is already showing well on sheep and shows no fear.

This is the one people might kill for.
Chief is now standing at stud in the USA, Idaho.
